Dear Cathedral Family,
When I gave my Dean’s report at our Annual Meeting last January, I spoke about how our place as a Cathedral is unique as our ministry is really expressed in two different ways: as the Cathedral Church of the Diocese, who hosts diocesan events and serves as a home for our Bishop; and as a Cathedral parish, serving the spiritual needs of our members. On one level a close-knit family as a parish and on another level part of an extended family of the diocese. I want to focus on the family part of our life together at the Cathedral, for that is where our main ministry begins. We come together as a family to worship, learn, grow, and love. It is here that we ask God to bless our family, formed in faith.
When we live together as a family, we experience many things, both good and bad. We rejoice together in times of celebration, and we mourn together in times of sadness. We congratulate one another when we come together to do something good. We say thank you to those who are deserving of our deep gratitude. We are a family, formed in faith. In good times we share much laughter and cheer, we can’t wait to see everyone and be together again. In tough times we stand together so we can be strong. We help one another in these times of need with words of encouragement and hands to hold. We pray together knowing that we will persevere and get through tough times, that we will always be there for one another no matter what. We are a family and that’s what families do.
It is in this spirit that I ask you to support our family, formed in faith, and pledge to the work and ministry of our Cathedral in 2025. It is through your love and support of this family that we are able to do much good in this place and in this community. Thank you for your support, and for being a wonderful part of this family.
The Very Rev. Dr. Andrew C. Keyse, Dean
