I have some exciting news to share on the motion the Vestry passed at our May meeting stating that, “the positions of Finance Committee Chair, Treasurer, and Budget Committee Chair be held by three different individuals.” This past June I wrote that at one time these were three separate positions, but lately have been held by the same person. The Vestry had lengthy conversations about this and believes the goals of the committees are best met by having separate people hold these positions. Having three separate people adds perspective as well as expands leadership opportunities at the Cathedral. The roles of the committees are that the Finance Committee focuses on the Cathedral’s revenues and financial health, the Treasurer focuses on the day-to-day financial operations of the Cathedral, and the Budget Committee focuses on expenditures and how they correspond with the Cathedral’s mission. I am happy to share that I have appointed the Finance Committee Chair, the Budget Committee Chair, and have nominated for election our Treasurer. Congratulations to Dave Barker, Finance Chair; Sara Copeland, Budget Chair; and Chip Buckner, Treasurer. Dave Barker will work with both Sara and Chip to help bring them up to speed in their new positions. I look forward to working with all three as we move forward into planning for 2024 and beyond.
Remember the three-day seminar on the Desert Mystics begins this evening at the Cathedral and continues on Saturday morning at St. Augustine’s and Sunday afternoon at Church of the Good Shepherd. Also this Sunday, I will hold an open discussion on the murals in the Common Room at 9:15 a.m. in the Common Room and our Summer Music Series continues at 2 p.m. in the Nave.
Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, for our nation, and the world.
