We are in the home stretch as Easter is almost here. This Sunday is the Fifth Sunday in Lent, and I feel like this day is kind of like the last Sunday in Lent for me. In the same way we have Last Pentecost and Last Epiphany, I feel like this should be Last Lent. Of course, it’s not, because Lent is not over until Easter, but it sure feels like it. Next week is Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week and Jesus’ Passion. It is something wholly “other than” what we have been doing through Lent to this point. It is a week completely set apart from the rest of Lent, to me, anyway, that this Sunday truly does feel like Last Lent. As we get to this time in Lent we know that something is about to happen. Our Lenten “twigs” behind the altar are turning green, Spring officially starts this Tuesday the 19th, all signaling that Easter is almost here. Are we ready? Do we feel like Lent has been sufficient for preparing us, once again, to welcome Easter? I certainly hope so because it’s coming whether we’re ready or not. I’m looking forward to all of our many services during Holy Week and the opportunity to walk with all of you during this time. Until then, however, we still have a bit of Lent left.
Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
