If you enjoy watching the weather, then this was a great week for you! How do we go from a record high in the seventies to snow and ice—in the same day? Well, we did, and you all got a chance to experience it. This time of year can be a volatile time, weather-wise, but this seems more unusual than normal. Please remember in your prayers all those who experienced the most extreme conditions, heavy snow, tornadoes, and wildfires, and all who are responding to those in need.
As we draw closer to the end of winter and start of spring, we gear up for the usual events for this time of year: Daylight Saving Time (March 10), the chance to see our favorite college basketball teams in a certain bracketed challenge, and the annual EPN Conference (Episcopal Parish Network, formerly CEEP). This year’s conference is in Houston, TX, March 6–9 and hosted by Christ Church Cathedral. I will be attending along with Steve Moore, Julie Toma, Fr. James, and Deacon Barbara. The theme is Inspiring Leaders. Keynote speakers include Presiding Bishop Curry; John Burnett, NPR Correspondent; The Rt. Rev. Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover, Diocese of Canterbury, Kent (UK); The Rt. Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, Bishop of Indianapolis; and the Rt. Rev. Matthew Heyd, Bishop of New York, among others. We will report back with our learnings and any ways we feel we can put those learnings to use at the Cathedral.
Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
