From the Desk of Dean Andy • 04.25.25

Alleluia, Christ is Risen! It was truly wonderful to be with all of you who came to worship during Holy Week and Easter. I cannot thank everyone enough for all your time and effort at making Holy Week and Easter a great success! Special thanks to Joan and the Altar Guild; to Lucas, Bill, and the choir; to our extra musicians (brass and cello); the Facility Staff, Cathedral Staff, Janet and Ric, Livestream team, readers, ushers, acolytes, verger, Eucharistic Ministers, Easter Vigil/Day reception teams, and all other volunteers. For all who helped decorate, brought food, helped fill eggs, or whatever you did to help, it truly takes a lot of people doing many tasks to make it work, and I am grateful to all of you. I also want to thank Bishop Diane for joining with us for one more Easter Vigil. I’m looking forward to a wonderful Easter season!

Now, looking ahead, we have many events and services coming up in the next couple weeks.

  • Tomorrow, Saturday, is our BINGO night! Join us for a festive game night starting at 5 p.m. in the Common Room. Please bring food and drinks to share. We will provide soft drinks as we gather to compete with one another. I can’t guarantee how often you’ll get to shout BINGO, but I can guarantee you’ll have a fun time trying!
  • Another large event soon to come is the Ordination and Consecration of our IXth Bishop. Join with us live (tickets have been issued to all who registered) or online on Saturday, May 3, as the Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux becomes our next bishop. The service begins at 10 a.m.
  • Along with these events, I remind you that we will have two services to remember our own who have passed on. A service of remembrance for Doyle White is this Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. A service of remembrance for Bob Richmond is Monday, May 5, at 2 p.m.

While we gather to remember those in our Cathedral family, we also take time to pause this week to remember another person known to all of Christendom, Pope Francis. I join with others around the world to extend my condolences to our Roman Catholic friends, and to all who looked to the Pope as a symbol of Christian devotion and service.

Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, for our nation, and the world.
