We are about to have a lot of Episcopalians in Kansas City as the Episcopal Parish Network (EPN) Conference is coming to town next week. The conference, formerly known as the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP), will be held at the Westin Crown Center on Tuesday, February 25 through Friday, February 28. We are a host parish, along with St. Paul’s and St. Andrew’s.

  • The closing Eucharist will be Thursday, February 27, at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral. All are welcome to attend.
  • In addition to the seminars, workshops, and keynote addresses our registrants will attend, EPN is inviting anyone to register for a special event on Wednesday. This registration includes access to a Keynote conversation between our Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Sean Rowe, and Eric Motley, Deputy Director of the National Gallery of Art. This conversation is followed by the EPN Opening Reception where you can enjoy drinks, light bites, and the opportunity to connect with all attendees and explore over 70 exhibitors (event flyer with registration link here). This event will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, and the cost for this special registration is $100.

Before we begin the conference, we have an exciting diocesan workshop taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Cathedral. Titled “Getting from Here to There: Congregational Development for Congregational Vitality.” The workshop leader is Bishop Melissa Skelton, founder of the College of Congregational Development in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, and former Archbishop of New Westminster in the Anglican Church of Canada. Registration for this workshop is free, and you can register here if you’re interested in joining. I will be at the workshop, along with other clergy, staff, vestry, and others.

In other news, Lent is fast approaching. Don’t forget our upcoming Cathedral events preceding Lent: Shrove Sunday Pancake breakfast following both morning services on March 2, and the Mardi Gras Jambalaya Dinner on Tuesday, March 4. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5. We will offer three opportunities for the imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist that day at 7 a.m., 12:05 p.m., and 7 p.m. (Sign ups & more details here)

Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
