Happy St. Nicholas Day! Today marks the Feast of Nicholas of Myra (present-day Demre in southwest Turkey), a fourth-century bishop. It is believed he was one of the bishops attending the Council of Nicaea in 325. He is known as the patron saint of seafarers, sailors, and children. Tradition holds that Nicholas had a habit of secret gift-giving to those in need.

The Nativity Puppets return to the Cathedral tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday for their 25th year. Tickets are available HERE. On Monday at 11:30 a.m. the choir of William Jewell College presents City Come Again at the Cathedral. Next week on Saturday will be the Women’s Lunch & Service Project at 11 a.m. and the Mingle and Munch, Sweaters and Sips open house at the home of Kristen and Mathias Nichols from 6-9 p.m. Next Sunday at 5 p.m. will be our annual service of Advent Lessons and Carols.

Even though this is a busy time, Advent invites us to slow down and enjoy our preparation for Christmas.

Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
