Advent Events

Saturday, November 30: Advent Decorating
You are invited to help us begin decorating for Advent. We will be decorating the Jesse Tree with our Advent wreath and adorning the rails, reredos, chancel and Nave walls.

Sunday, December 1: Advent Workshop (after 10:30 a.m. service)
All are invited for fun, fellowship and crafts at our Advent Workshop in Founders’ Hall.

Friday, December 6–Sunday, December 8: The Nativity Puppets
This celebrated annual spectacle comes alive with larger than life, seven-foot puppets and live voices, singers, and musicians for this classic enactment. For showtimes, details and to purchase tickets, visit nativitypuppets.org.

Monday, December 9: The City Come Again, 12 p.m.
William Jewell College’s gift to the city in words and music, features the college’s Handbell Choir, Concert Choir, conductor Dr. Anthony Maglione and organist Dr. Ann Marie Rigler. This event is free.

Saturday, December 14: Women’s Lunch & Outreach Project, 11 a.m.
The women of GHTC are invited to help pack up food for children to have over the holiday break bags and treat bags for local school children. RSVP here so we have a correct lunch count.

Saturday, December 14: Youth Advent Party, 7 p.m.
Youth from the Cathedral and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church gather in Haden Hall for Advent fun.

Saturday, December 14: Mingle and Munch, Sweaters and Sips, 6-9 p.m.
You are invited to fellowship at the home of Kristen & Mathias Nichols in the KC northland. Bring a beverage and dish (appetizer or dessert) to share and wear your favorite fun holiday sweater/outfit. RSVP here.

Sunday, December 15: Advent Lessons and Carols, 5 p.m.
Our annual service of Advent Lessons and Carols contains Bible readings and music provides an opportunity for spiritual reflection and preparation as we anticipate the joy of Christmas and the hope of Christ’s return. This event is free.

Gifts of flowers and greens in memory of or in thanksgiving for a loved one help provide festive decorations from Christmas Eve through the Epiphany. You can

  • Mail a check to the Cathedral office.

Greet the Incarnate Lord on Christmas morning with a celebration of Holy Eucharist with carols and organ music.
